Embody is a spin-off from the Evolve Series. It is a standalone and flows well. SE Hall does a nice job of referencing the characters from the previous series. Embody features the next generation mainly focusing on Dane & Laney Kendrick’s son Jefferson (JT).All of his life JT has heard the golden rule:
"Find her. Protect her. Love only her, with everything you are, every day, for the rest of your life."
This has been the mantra while growing up in an awesome, loving, funny & competitive family & extended family which includes his two sisters; Skylar & Brynn. JT understands this “mantra” but doesn’t really get it. He is a notorious player and never sees the same girl twice. Until he meets Bellamy Morgan. The only problem….she is his little sister’s best friend.
“Promise me, JT. Promise me you won’t turn your charms on my only real friend.”
But, the heart wants what the heart wants and JT wants Bellamy…..
"Well, well, well, what do we have here? Seems my little sister has been holding out on me. Her friend Bellamy is…mesmerizing at first sight."
I really loved everything about the book. I laughed out loud, a lot. There are many scenes featuring their parents Dane & Laney as well as “The Crew” & “The Squad.”
JT is a complete alpha (and very much his father’s son) and it is really funny when he realizes that Bellamy is it for him.
Bellamy is the complete package: brains, beauty & whit although a bit of inexperience is there too. JT & Bellamy mesh well together and their chemistry, whoa!
I would have liked a bit more sexy times but the intimate moments were a product of getting to know one another, not just jumping feet first into things.
As I said the book had a really good, fun vibe! I look forward to the next one which I think may be cousin Presley?.....

This book was AMAZING not that I ever expect anything less from the phenomenal SE Hall! I was so excited to dive into this book and get to revisit The Crew and get to meet The Squad! I was not disappointed, I loved seeing the similar characteristics of Dane in JT (Dane is still my main man...he always will be) but JT definitely gave him a run for his money!
I love reading books by Steph because she is able to bring out all your emotions. You just feel every emotion that her characters are going threw.
It was so nice to watch Jefferson fall in love with Bellamy and his actions towards her were completely swoonworthy <3
I highly recommend this book, you do not have to read the Evolve series first but you totally should because that's also HIGHLY recommended by me (to this day it's still hands down my favorite book series) Happy reading!!!
from the Evolve Series you are going to love this spin off series featuring their children, who are all grown up. AKA the Squad! This is JT's story. JT is the son of my favorite Crew couple Dane and Laney. JT is the perfect mix of Dane and Sawyer with a little bit of Laney. JT's eye has gotten caught on the lovely Bellamy Morgan. He really wants to get to know her, but there is something standing between them. His little sister Brynn. Bellamy happens to be Brynn's best friend. If you want to know how this plays out, and boy does it play out, you are going to have to read. I absolutely LOVED this story!! SE Hall's humor is definitely present is this book, which is what I love about her writing. Of course, all of the characters are amazing! I cannot wait for the rest of this series!!
Even though this is a standalone novel, because it's a spinoff from the EVOLVE SERIES Emerge (Evolve Series #1), you might get better enjoyment and understanding of the cast of characters if you read that series first...although it's not necessary. Some of the main characters in this story are the second generation, from Emerge (Evolve Series #1). This was a sweet love story that forced me to suspend my belief that some of the events would actually happen. I loved the tight closeness of the families and the openness of their affection. I loved the modern thinking of the parents and the trust and respect of the adult kids towards their parents, uncles/aunts/cousins. It was all very convenient and made for a happy fantasy. I never once in my life...with all my family members and how close we all are, come across the type of family dynamic shared in this book. Still like I said, makes for a fun and happy fantasy. There were no problems in life...no troubling issues, no financial problems. Everybody got along with everybody; no controversies or disputes. Some adult sibling bickering, but resolved quickly. It was all too perfect and too convenient but that's ok because this was about JT and Bellamy.
This is the sweet love story of 21 y/o Jefferson (J.T) Kendrick's all consuming, never-ending attraction towards his little sisters, BFF, Bellamy Morgan. He's twitter-pated! The entire story is about his chase, capturing and finally falling in love. I loved J.T's commanding and controlling alpha personality. I loved how he took over and manipulated things in Bellamy's life to be front and center of her. He was out of control and it was hilarious. I loved how he wasn't thinking straight and acted almost in a panicked state to protect and possess her. His irrational behavior made me laugh..often. I loved the epiphany he has when he first meets Bellamy...suddenly understanding why guys change their playboy ways, when they meet that certain special someone and discovers SHE'S MORE than enough. He's dazed and confused. His mouth is dry and he's dumbstruck. Suddenly he becomes attuned to her...her sounds, her words, her moves and expressions. He realizes with surprise, that he genuinely likes her; listening to her and being with her. It reminded me of Thumper when he first see's a girl.. (in the movie, Bambi). Bellamy's simple acts of blinking or breathing, or turning her head..become a thing of fascination to him. For me, this story was all about J.T. and him coming to grips with losing his playboy reputation lifestyle, and gladly accepting it. His awakening to what was happening to him was perfectly related.
It's a fun story with witty, humorous dialogue told in a dual POV in 1st person. I loved all the comparisons between men and women....all the women's pow-wow's and hen parties and open conversations. Character descriptions were strong, giving me a good visual to easily connect. Adult language isn't overdone and the steam in the story never overpowered the plot. It's not about sex...it's about attraction/lust/respect, falling in love and making a lifelong devoted commitment. It was hilarious fun and brilliantly (even though not believable), conveyed.
